Contains information pertaining to the following military units and organizations: The Veterinary Corps, 44th Medical Brigade, Veterinary School Library and Museum, Department (Dept.) of Veterinary Science, U.S. Army Medical Field Service School. General description of the collection: The Veterinary Corps collection consists of material pertaining to the Veterinary Corps and U.S. Army veterinary schools. Present are annual reports consisting of correspondence, studies, rosters, memorandums, circulars, personnel actions, and Surgeon General's office bulletins; historical material from the Veterinary School Library and Museum and the Department of Veterinary Science, U.S. Army Medical Field Service School; historical files consisting of reports, correspondence, studies, and articles (1963-1971); subject files consisting mainly of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) pamphlets and information bulletins on food handling, storage, and preparation (1927-1942); and curricular material, consisting of plans of instruction, lesson plans, and exercise scenarios from several different courses, including the officer basic course, and several hundred one-page biographies of guest speakers (1965-1970). Other topics include: food inspection, animal medicine, STRIKEX, VETEX, Meat and Dairy Hygiene School and the American Veterinary Medical Association. Also present are the Everett B. Miller Papers, 1916-1982. Lieutenant Colonel Miller authored the official history of the Veterinary Corps entitled, UNITED STATES ARMY VETERINARY SERVICE IN WORLD WAR II, and other works on Veterinary Corps history. The papers consist of drafts, research notes, and supporting documents.
